Mais de 500 bombeiros se revezaram, nesta semana, em um dia inteiro de atividades na água, desafiando o limite físico e superando a barreira dos 1.200 metros de exercícios de salvamento aquático. Todo o percurso, realizado na Lagoa dos Ingleses, em Nova Lima, foi executado sem o auxílio de equipamentos, em profundidades que podem chegar a 12 metros.

O objetivo do evento ‘Travessia 2024’ é desenvolver as habilidades natatórias dos discentes do Curso de Formação de Soldados (CFSd) em águas abertas, e contou com o apoio da Marinha do Brasil, que faz a gestão das águas em território nacional.

O recruta Sérgio Patrick dos Reis Marques contou sua experiência de quando ainda era adolescente e ficou em apuros por não saber nadar. 

“Uma vez, brincando no rio com meus irmãos e meus amigos, comecei a nadar na parte rasa e fui para a parte funda sem perceber. Quando parei, não consegui mais flutuar e comecei a ter um princípio de afogamento. Sempre tive um pouco de medo de água, mas para entrar no Corpo de Bombeiros fiz algumas aulas, mesmo assim, ainda tinha dificuldade e não conseguia nadar nem 75 metros. No curso e com a ajuda dos instrutores, já fiz prova de 400 metros, algo que eu imaginava ser impossível. Aqui, na Lagoa dos Ingleses, consegui fazer a travessia de 1.200 metros”, conta, demonstrando orgulho por vencer suas limitações.

Sentimentos como o medo e desespero foram superados em mais uma atividade de capacitação promovida pelo Corpo de Bombeiros para o processo de formação dos soldados que, em breve, atuarão em situações diversas de afogamento.

Afogamentos

De acordo com a Sociedade Brasileira de Salvamento Aquático (Sobrasa), 15 brasileiros morrem afogados diariamente, sendo a segunda maior causa de mortes no país. O Corpo de Bombeiros Militar de Minas Gerais (CBMMG) já registrou aproximadamente 2.500 mortes nos últimos oito anos em todo o estado. Este total representa uma média de 309 afogamentos por ano e quase uma morte por dia.

Em 2020, o CBMMG realizou uma pesquisa qualitativa em seus registros de atendimento que demonstram que o perfil dos óbitos por afogamento em Minas Gerais é de homens, com idade média de 25 anos.

Além disso, 33% dos casos de afogamento acontecem na faixa etária entre 19 e 32 anos de ambos os sexos. Ou seja, é praticamente 10 vezes maior a incidência de afogamentos de homens do que de mulheres e a faixa etária dos 19 aos 32 responde por 1 em cada 3 afogamentos no estado.

Para reduzir os números tão significativos, é imprescindível reforçar as ações de prevenção e conscientização dos cuidados a serem tomados nos momentos de lazer e derrubar certos padrões que induzem ao risco. E esta tem sido a aposta do Corpo de Bombeiros Militar de Minas Gerais: trabalhar a prevenção intensificando a presença dos militares nos locais mais críticos e reforçando a conscientização por meio de ações coordenadas e com o apoio da imprensa.
