Dia do Ferroviário tem programação especial em Sorocaba – Agência de Notícias

A Prefeitura de Sorocaba, por meio da Secretaria de Cultura (Secult), realiza, no dia 30 de abril, a partir das 14h, uma programação especial para celebrar o Dia do Ferroviário (30 de abril), no Museu da Estrada de Ferro Sorocabana (MEFS). O evento é gratuito e aberto a todos.
A programação tem início às 14h, com o encontro “Café com Memória”, que terá a participação de ex-ferroviários para um bate-papo sobre a profissão, relembrando a rotina e os momentos importantes para aqueles que viveram esse período primordial da cultura sorocabana. Durante a roda de conversa, será servido um café especial para os participantes. Às 15h, o evento prossegue com a exibição dos depoimentos em vídeos da exposição “Trilhando Memórias”.
A ferrovia teve grande importância, tanto no transporte de passageiros, quanto de cargas, para a construção e a história do Brasil, contribuindo, da mesma forma, para com a história e o desenvolvimento de Sorocaba, auxiliando na difusão do nome da cidade, inclusive após a criação da Companhia Estrada de Ferro Sorocabana, em 1870, por empresários sorocabanos liderados pelo comerciante de algodão Matheus Maylasky.
A data é uma referência à inauguração da primeira linha ferroviária do Brasil, a Imperial Companhia de Navegação a Vapor e Estrada de Ferro de Petrópolis, conhecida, hoje, como a Estrada de Ferro Mauá, inaugurada pelo Barão de Mauá, no dia 30 de abril de 1854.
O MEFS está localizado no Jardim Maylasky, na Rua Álvaro Soares, 533, no Centro. Mais informações podem ser obtidas de segunda a sexta-feira, das 8h às 17h, pelo telefone: (15) 3231-1026 ou pelo e-mail: mefs@sorocaba.sp.gov.br.
